WAAOF is either a scam or a victim of what he says we are. No one can educate that mindset, but the rest of us deserve reality. Point about the traffic accidents killing more that the virus: 38 thousand a year die in traffic in the U.S.A., with 4 million others maimed temporarily or permanently. Covid has killed 200,000 in 8 months. Looks like 300 thousand by a year. Either way, it is 5 to 8 times more deadly than accidents. The long term results of maiming are probably worse with the accidents, but reality is worth knowing. WAAOF knows little, but is living in the wild west of his imagination. Likely a bot, one way or the other!

Well we are careful here at home in Canada and would also be careful in Mexico. It is just the airports and planes that have me worried, so for now my winter home in SAN Jose Del Cabo will stay empty with out me....sure hope to get there in the spring.

I haven't stopped traveling. I protect myself and live life as best as I can. I live in Mexico City and will be going to Brazil in a few months, and hopefully on a 25 day cruise in March, that leaves Rio going to Venice. If it's cancelled, then I have several backup plans to go back to Turkey. But, life goes on, face masks and distancing is keeping everybody alive. I don't believe there will be any working vaccine in the next year. First of all every health care worker in every country would be vaccinated first before the general population. That would take months and months, like all of 2021. So, it's wishful thinking to believe some magical vaccine will be available. You know how long it took to vaccinate people against polio???? YEARS!!!

WAAOF wins the IDIOT OF THE WEEK award. What a pea brain this hollow individual must be! Everything he wrote is dubious. Mainstream media is the carrier of info. It may not be the news you wish to hear, WAAOF, but where else are you getting it - the KKK? Get off your lame horse and join the fight. Cowards will eventually die, as you say. But what an astonishing Give-Up? You must have NO family and be here running from the law...
I don’t trust the system. I will rely more on the reports from health care workers and my neighbours in Mexico. Also, since travel by car is not possible for me from Canada, I will stay home. I’m hoping by March? Stay safe everyone.
George - 5 years ago
Not really. I have no plans to travel during this anyway. I’m waiting for the “it’s over when it’s over” classic determination with validation.
And now Russia is sending millions of its vaccination doses to Mexico. I’m in the “old age vulnerable” category. I think I’ll be happy to let others try it first and we’ll see what happens. As Ronald Reagan said, “Trust, but verify.”
WAAOF - 5 years ago
I agree with Su. Your chances of dying from this PLANDEMIC are so low that dying from a car accident are thousands of times more likely than dying from the COVID 19 Coronavirus. People need to stop listening to MSM news and start doing their own due diligence. You are being herded, manipulated and
programmed like good little sheeple to do as the NWO wants you to do. Wearing a mask reduces your body's own ability to protect itself and does NOTHING to protect you or others from anything more than dust-sized particulates. But, hey, stay in your safe little rabbit holes and die a slow death in your safe space. Me? I prefer living life to the fullest, not in fear of what might or might not happen. At some point during one's life, everyone WILL die. There is no escaping that.

We're staying put for the time being. We're in Merida, sheltering in place. We feel far safer here than we would anywhere in the US. Do we use the stoplight map? No. We're not travelling. Beyond that, we use common sense and follow the safety protocols. I only hope that Yucatan's phased opening of businesses and venues does not end up crippling it later this fall.
Bill Grimsdale - 5 years ago
We are going to Manzanillo for the winter. The condo development where we rent are very particular about who gets in and we will take the precautions we take here in Canada. Wearing a mask for several hours will be difficult, but worth it to escape from the cold, ice and snow that happens up here and which carry's the substantial risk of falling and breaking bones-so it's a crap shoot one way or another!

Have reservations for Puerto Vallarta around mid Nov. I am very reluctant to travel, wife going with or without me (won't postpone trip.) We are elderly. Any suggestions on how to handle this situation?
Jim D. - 5 years ago
In Puerto Vallarta now. Left here last March and got COVID somewhere from my condo and arriving back to the USA. Within three days home the two of us became very ill. Decided to come back on 9/4 and things are pretty quiet. Businesses are very diligent with masks and sanitizers . It is primarily the young kids in their twenties that are crowding together with no forethought of their actions. Overall the locals are as guarded as can be expected. This pandemic has taken a real hit on local businesses and people. Many sad stories of hunger and struggle.
Karen M Goodridge - 5 years ago
What's the difference where you are in the world? Not one country has accurate covid stats. Not one country is acting appropriately to this NORMAL occurrence of yearly deaths from cold/flu symptoms that often take lives. The media has caused unnecessary panic that in turn is sending otherwise perfectly healthy people to hospitals where they are drugged, intubated, and dying. Alone. If, as Su said above, this scam was a true pandemic we would not need the "news" to tell us. I recently flew RT between Arizona and Florida on American Airlines and I will not travel by air again until I can board w/o a mask. Social distancing? What a joke! We were packed in like sardines. Every middle seat was occupied, yet we were not allowed to debark until the row in front of us was cleared. No service whatsoever. About 2 hours into the flight a male attendant screamed into the microphone that if we weren't wearing our masks over our mouths and noses, he guaranteed we would not be allowed on the return flight, nor would we ever be allowed on an American Airlines plane again. Not a problem, thank you very much. I will never fly American Airlines again regardless of cost or discount. So, short answer, NO, I do NOT use the Covid stoplight risk map.
Myles Anderson - 5 years ago
Like most Canadians... we're not going anywhere until there's a "proven" vaccine. The Russians are going to provide millions of doses for Mexico later this year. Fortunately, that's a pretty good test bed for the Russians but, maybe not so for our friends in Mexico. Regardless, go to an airport and then get on a plane... don't think so.

Sadly, I do not believe the Stoplight colours now being assigned to any geographic area reflect the level of SARS-CoV-2 infections there. UN statistics show infections continuing to rise while the colour of the Stop Lights are now being assigned by the government after putting financial considerations ahead of the health of persons, in order to prevent the country's economic collapse. I expect the normal level of lawlessness to rise as citizens seek to keep themselves and their families fed. Visitors should be ever vigilante, even more so than before. The best I can hope for, with current information, is this pandemic will decline, and like other viral infections such as the Flu and Common Cold, for which we have no vaccines, will become something that we will have to guard against all year round. Unless of course, the silver bullet vaccine is found. Written with a heavy heart from many years of wonderful vacations.

Today I flew from Mazatlan to Phoenix, as I also did three months ago. I look at the numbers each morning, and seriously doubt they are accurate. I personally know two people who were probably Covid positive and IMSS refused to test them. Occasionally, I need to take a risk for family matters, like today, but usually I feel that with commonsense and the addition of a facemark and gel, most of us can avoid getting sick. I will see if I am right over the next week.

The coronavirus is airborne, so any action you take to deflect it is a crapshoot. Traveling by car or SUV is no better than flying commercial. You are the mercy of "chance," as they say in Vegas. There is no "safe" place anywhere on the planet. There is only the possibility, and that one is out to get you. And now the "experts" are saying there may never be a vaccine for this pandemic. At present, not even God can save you. People are either getting it or not getting it - that's the reality of this still-amok disaster. Death is real...

The Mexican govt. does almost no testing. How can the numbers they use to determine stoplight colors be accurate? Even the Deputy Minister of Health says the official numbers are not accurate. Three different times over the past months I have read a quote from him that for every one case of COVID that is known, there are eight more out there that are not known. And even less testing in being done now. Less testing, less cases. That's why the numbers can decline. I won't travel anyplace except the farmacia, the ATM machine and the supermercado.

Here in the US, going back to our home in Mexico this month. What's the difference, neither country has an effective plan for dealing with this once in a century disaster. We will be driving. Air travel looks like a sure way to get the disease. And we will not take the vaccine under the current "Presidency" in the US. Can't trust the lying SOB in office now. Here there what's the difference, we will be in lock down in either case.

Based on the poor quality of the CV19 data and the tendency to always claim everything is OK even if not true, I do not trust the information at all.
